authority of India (SAIL) is a public sector undertaking and acts like an
operating company largely owned by the government of India. Initially the Hindustan
Steel Limited (HSL) is established in 1954 to enhance the industrialization
of the country taking care of the three steel plants that have been built
during that period. Later on with a policy drafted by the Ministry of steel and
mines of creating a holding company for managing the inputs and outputs under
one umbrella the SAIL was incorporated on January 24, 1973 with an initial
capital of Rs 2000 crores and made responsible to manage the five integrated
steel plants at that time and was also restructured as an operating company in
1978. SAIL is now one of the five Maharatnas, profit earning corporate of the
country. SAIL has a turnover of around Rs 50,348 crore and is under massive
expansion plan creating lot of opportunities for the job aspirants with a good
